Parish administrator

Job title: Parish Administrator

Hours: 10 hours per week

Pay: £12.60 per hour

Closing date: Friday 28 February

Interview date: Week commencing 10 March

The role

We’re looking for someone to join our small team of paid staff and dedicated volunteers in the Parish Church of St Mary and St Eanswythe, with St Saviour, Folkestone.

St Mary & St Eanswythe’s is both a Church of England Parish Church and a registered charity (No. 1192616). The nature of a parish church is varied. Our primary task is the worship of God, but day to day running of the church involves all sort of things, from baptisms & weddings to church, hall and concert bookings; family history enquiries through to a variety of pastoral situations. We have no expectations on the Administrator in terms of religious belief and practice, but sympathy towards the aims and objectives of a Christian organisation will be essential; as will be the discretion required to fulfil the role and deal with the things that arise internally and externally.

The role is for 10 hours per week. It would be desirable for these hours to be worked across a number of days, but we are open to flexible working and fitting in with existing work and family commitments where appropriate. Some evening and weekend working will occasionally be required, with time off in lieu offered under these circumstances. Because of the tasks involved, the administrator will need to be present on site in the church office at some point each week. Applicants should note that the parish office is currently located on the first floor and that lone-working is involved.

  • Sympathy towards the aims and objectives of the Church and PCC.

  • Previous experience of the Church of England
